Builder Spotlight: Bobby Middleton
Share
When it comes to the custom motorcycle world, Bobby Middleton—better known as “Bobby the Leg”—has carved out his own lane. His style, influence, and experiences tell the story of a builder deeply rooted in both tradition and adventure.
The Daily Ride
Bobby’s go-to machine is a 1948 pan/shovel chopper, a bike that perfectly represents his old-school approach to riding. Beyond that, his garage houses a handful of Harleys, each with its own story and character. One of his favorite creations? A Harley springer he narrowed and extended, a piece that embodies his ability to take classic design and bend it to his own vision.

Early Roots and Family Ties
Bobby’s love for motorcycles started early—working in the garage with his dad as a kid. Those memories of wrenching side by side laid the foundation for a lifelong passion, one that continues to fuel his work today.
On the Road
Few things top the feeling of cross-country travel for Bobby. He recalls riding across the country with his partner Olivia as one of his most memorable experiences, always carrying a spare battery just in case. His all-time favorite motorcycle event memory? Riding to Born Free 2024 with Olivia, a moment that blended his love of choppers with the joy of sharing the open road.
Influence and Inspiration
Bobby finds inspiration everywhere—his father, who got him started in fabrication; Dan Auerbach’s collection of bikes; and his own ventures, including his metal fabrication business and bar. He’s also fueled by books like Palmer’s How to Restore a Harley-Davidson and dreams of building a ’39 Knucklehead if money were no object.
Looking Ahead
2024 is shaping up to be a big year. Bobby is heading to Japan for the first time, a trip he’s been looking forward to. If he could take six months off without obligations, he’d spend it traveling the country in an RV—no doubt finding inspiration in every corner of the map.

The Rider’s Playlist and Tastes
When it comes to music, Bobby’s favorites span decades: The Rolling Stones, Thin Lizzy, and Sturgill Simpson. For food, nothing beats an Italian beef sandwich from Tufano’s in Chicago. And when he’s not in the garage or on the road, you might catch him listening to the Joe Rogan podcast.
Giving Thanks
Above all, Bobby’s quick to show gratitude, giving a big thanks to Scott and Warren for the invite and always showing respect to the community that fuels the culture.
